My family and I rented this apartment for two months in the winter of 2011. It was a great apartment for the four of us, husband, wife, and two teenagers. The apartment has many attributes. First, it seems larger than the square footage would indicate. Partially, this is due to the fact that it is on two floors; partially it is due to the fact that there are many rooms (three bedrooms, a study, a living room, two baths, eat-in kitchen). Second, the apartment is very, very quiet. Having said that, it is in central Paris and close to many great restaurants and shops. One of the largest outdoor markets in all of Paris is just three blocks away. You should also know that the apartment has 1 1/2 baths. There is a full bath with separate shower (always important for us Americans) on the second floor and a half bath (just a toilet) on the first floor. The listing isn't clear on this. The owner was very responsive when a couple of minor issues arose. What are the drawbacks? Frankly, there are not many. As the listing makes clear, the apartment is on the top floors of the building, and there is no lift. If you have impaired mobility, this would not be the place for you. When we were considering renting this apartment, I had two colleagues from the university I would be visiting in Paris look at the apartment. This they did. Both of the colleagues recommended that I rent this apartment. (They looked at several other apartments on my behalf.) One of them said; "To rent a better apartment in central Paris you would have to pay double the rent."
